Kim Hee Chul mentioned “marrying a Chinese restaurant owner’s daughter,” will he get married soon?
In SBS’s variety show "My Little Old Boy" aired on April 23rd, Kim Hee Chul expressed his desire for marriage and to escape singlehood.
On this day, Kim Hee Chul, Kim Jong Min, and Lee Sang Min gathered at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate Black Day, an unofficial holiday for singles in Korea.
Kim Jong Min said, “Today is Black Day, and it’s the last one for us this year,” as they arrived at the restaurant. Kim Jong Min mentioned that Lee Sang Min had met a woman this year, and Kim Hee Chul said, “When I saw him, I thought he could never date anyone.” Lee Sang Min was embarrassed and said, “That’s why I’m in therapy.”
Kim Hee Chul also mentioned his marriage plans and said he is currently planning to get married alone. Kim Jong Min, on the other hand, said, “I already have a wedding scheduled for 2024,” hoping to escape singlehood alone.
Regardless of their relationship status, the three enjoyed their last Black Day together. Kim Hee Chul laughed and said, “When I was young, my dream was to marry a Chinese restaurant owner’s daughter so that I could eat jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles) all the time.” Lee Sang Min also said, “I wanted to marry the daughter of a butcher so I could eat meat every day.”
Next, they moved to a restaurant that served truffle oil jajangmyeon, which cost 30,000 won per serving. They were surprised to find that the dish contained four pieces of truffle and plenty of beef tenderloin steak. Lee Sang Min said, “Truffles are the only mushrooms that come up for auction, and they can cost billions of won.” In fact, 850g of truffles were sold at auction for 1.4 billion won.
The three of them said, “We have to eat like this on the last Black Day,” and joked, “It would be great if three couples could eat like this next time.” But they quickly gave up on the idea when they realized it would cost 180,000 won for six servings of jajangmyeon.
They moved on to the next location, but Kim Jong Min accidentally went in the wrong direction and ended up in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, saying, “We have a final destination, but it’s far away.” They traveled 100 kilometers in total, but finally arrived at their destination. After eating jajangmyeon all day, Lee Sang Min joked, “I’ll date someone even if I get sick of it.“
Kim Hee Chul’s mother also said, “I hope Hee Chul will find someone by next year’s Black Day.”
