Song Joong-ki Stirred Controversy on 2024 Baeksang Red Carpet due to One Gesture?
An action of Song Joong-ki on the red carpet of the 60th Baeksang Awards sparked controversy among netizens.
On the afternoon of May 7, the 60th Baeksang Awards ceremony in Korea officially took place, gathering the hottest A-list stars from the screen. The appearances of many big stars caused a stir among the audience, among them was famous actor Song Joong-ki. However, Song Joong-ki’s red carpet walk quickly became a topic of controversy because of one small action.
Specifically, on the Baeksang red carpet, Song Joong-ki appeared handsome, radiant, and friendly in front of the cameras. To conclude his appearance, the “Descendants of the Sun” star made a heart gesture on his cheek, appearing cute. However, the male star perhaps did not expect that his gesture would spark many debates immediately afterward.
It’s worth noting that earlier, Song Joong-ki himself had refused to make heart signs at events, considering them dull. He even revealed at a press conference for the K-drama “Reborn Rich” that he thought typical gestures to be “boring”.
Therefore, Song Joong-ki’s action at the 60th Baeksang Awards contradicted his previous statement, rousing a controversy.
On the other hand, Song Joong-ki drew attention for playing a cameo role in the hit K-drama “Queen of Tears” starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won.
Meanwhile, at this year’s Baeksang Awards, Song Joong-ki will compete in the Best Supporting Actor category – Film section for his role as Chi-geon in “Hopeless”.
