Agency Responds To Criticism Over Lack Of Promotion For Kim Hye-yoon By Revealing Her Upcoming Schedules

Artist Company quickly explained after being criticized for not promoting Kim Hye-yoon amid “Lovely Runner” popularity

On May 9th, fans complained about Kim Hye-yoon’s agency Artist Company neglecting the management and promotion of the actress. They compared Kim Hye-yoon’s activities to those of her co-star Byun Woo-seok and pointed out the company’s lack of promotion for the actress.

Surpassing tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears”, tvN’s “Lovely Runner”, starring Kim Hye-yoon and Byun Woo-seok, rose to No.1 in the TV-OTT drama rankings released by Good Data Corporation in the first week of May. The lead actors Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, who have created hot topics for three consecutive weeks since the first broadcast, are also proving their popularity by placing No.1 and No.2 in the popularity chart for TV-OTT drama cast.

As the drama is gaining huge popularity, Byun Woo-seok also promotes himself properly. In particular, the actor will not only hold the first Asian fanmeeting tour since his debut but also appear on various entertainment programs such as SBS’s “Running Man” and tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”. Also, he opened Weverse and Weverse DM, a private chat service, to communicate with fans.

Unlike her co-star, Kim Hye-yoon has not carried out any promotional activities despite the drama’s rising popularity. As such, fans began to voice complaints about her company’s negligence in management. Kim Hye-yoon signed her exclusive contract with Artist Company on April 15th but promotion remained low. Fans mentioned various issues, such as poor fan community management and non-registration of her profile on portal sites, questioning whether the company is ignoring the actress.

On the 9th, Kim Hye-yoon soothed fans by posting behind-the-scenes photos and videos of “Lovely Runner” on her personal SNS account. Later at 10 p.m. on the 10th, Artist Company also hurriedly explained Kim Hye-yoon’s promotional schedule. Revealing that the actress already took a magazine photoshoot, the agency also confirmed Kim Hye-yoon’s interviews with overseas media outlets and appearance on the YouTube content “Jang Do-yeon’s Salon Drip” on May 17th.

Although the company immediately clarified the issues in response to fans’ frustration and criticism, Kim Hye-yoon’s schedules are indeed far short of Byun Woo-seok’s promotional activities. When an actor shoots a drama, it is obvious that they will shoot magazines, do interviews with Korean and overseas media and appear on one or two YouTube content. Kim Hye-yoon is doing well but the company is only giving her basic promotional activities.
