KARA, who made a comeback after 7 years and 6 months since officially declaring their disbandment in 2016, attended the first day of the “2022 MAMA AWARDS” held at Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan on Nov 29th and showed a perfect performance that was not rusty at all. Starting with the hit song “Lupin”, followed by “Step” and “Mister”, KARA performed the new song “WHEN I MOVE” for the first time, drawing cheers from fans. The stage began with the image of the late Goo Ha Ra, who passed away suddenly in 2019, on the screen. There was still a vacancy left by the late Goo Ha Ra in KARA.

KARA’s music video, which was released along with the album, contained the members and fans’ affection towards the late Goo Ha Ra. At the beginning of the video, one more glass was added to the empty space when 5 members sat around a table. Netizens interpreted this scene as Goo Ha Ra’s seat and her champagne glass. The last scene in this music video also caught fans’ attention. KARA is currently active as a 5-member group, but a total of 6 standing microphones appeared on the empty stage at the end of the music video. It was to fill the vacancy of Goo Ha Ra.

Goo Ha Ra gained great popularity in Japan with her appearance resembling Japan’s best female singer Amuro Namie. KARA, who officially debuted in Japan in 2010, topped the Oricon Chart. In 2013, they became the first Korean girl group to hold a solo concert at Tokyo Dome, Japan.

Meanwhile, KARA will release a Japanese album in Japan on Dec 21st to commemorate their 15th debut anniversary. On Dec 23rd, they will appear on TV Asahi’s “MUSIC STATION”, a long-running music program that boasts a 36-year history. It is the first time in 10 years that KARA will appear on this program again, so interest in them is also growing in Japan.
