MBC’s ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’ (ISAC) will take a break during the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday.
An official from MBC told Newsen on January 6, “We will not broadcast ‘ISAC‘ during this Lunar New Year holiday.”
‘ISAC’ is a special program in which idols challenge sports events in matches to decide the winners. Since its first broadcast in 2010 as a Chuseok special, it has been broadcast almost every holiday.
However, ‘ISAC’ is a program that has been criticized every year due to various controversies such as long recordings and injuries to idols. ‘ISAC’ went on hiatus in the aftermath of COVID-19, and returned after two years in celebration of the Chuseok holiday last year. However, at the time of recording, it sparked controversy again due to an unreasonable fandom recruitment notice.
As a result, fans questioned whether or not ‘ISAC’ would be held during the Lunar New Year holiday this year. Eventually, MBC has decided not to broadcast ‘ISAC’ during this Lunar New Year holiday.
