“I don’t often go there”… What is Han Ga-in’s taboo thing?

While Han Ga-in mentioned her taboo thing in “Circle House”, the heated talk between YOLO (You Only Live Once) team and FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) team was interesting.

On the April 7th broadcast of SBS’ entertainment show “Circle House”, while delivering the theme of YOLO and FIRE, Noh Hong-chul said, “I lived as a YOLO. My good condition is an investment.” Lee Jung shared, “I’m trying to collect a lot of money. Whether the present is important or to prepare for the future is a hot topic.” Oh Eun-young invited guests, saying, “Money is something we should be together for the rest of our lives, so let’s express our thoughts comfortably.”

First of all, the guest with the nickname “Tomorrow” said she had achieved 90 million won in three years, 10 million won in one year after retirement (a total of 100 million won in her bank account). It was a myth for four years. She added that her monthly living expenses were 300,000 won, including mobile phones and fixed expenditure. Han Ga-in asked, “Are you living only by breathing?”

Regarding the reason for not spending for 10 days, the storyteller made everyone laugh by saying, “If I go to the company, all the food and snack expenses will be solved.” The storyteller, whose dating budget is 100,000 to 150,000 won, confessed, “If we overspend our budgets, we will ask each other to eat at home. My boyfriend respects the way I prepare for the future.”

“Today”, who is a YOLO, revealed that she spent 3 million won on padding. Upon hearing this, everyone laughed as they said, “Tomorrow’s cost of living for 10 months.” When asked if she did not want to spend on a 50% discount, Tomorrow replied, “If you don’t buy it, it’s a 100% discount.” She then added that there should be five reasons to purchase. In response, the panelists talked about impulse shopping. Han Ga-in confessed, “If I buy things from home shopping, I will buy infallibly. I often purchase medical devices, massage devices, especially exercise equipment on impulse.”

When Oh Eun-young said she bought sneakers on impulse, Lee Seung-gi shared, “We live in the same apartment, but I’ve never seen this before.”

On the contrary, the panelists mentioned wasteful things when spending money. Han Ga-in said, “The price of drinks in cafes is not worth it, so I don’t often go to cafes.” Lee Jung shared, “I just get rained on because I don’t want to waste my umbrella on a rainy day.” Noh Hong-chul continued, “I never buy plastic bags. I choose to stuff into standard plastic garbage bags.”

The guest with the nickname “Salt” said she had already accumulated 100 million won in her 20s, and that she made more than double the current profit from investing in real estate. After renting a room for three years, she is currently living in her own residence. Regarding the cost of living, she said, “It’s 300,000 won a month for food, but the cost of meals in the cafeteria is actually within 200,000 won. When I call food delivery service, I divide one serving of tteokbokki into six portions, and one serving of chicken into six portions.”

The panelists asked two people about their concerns. “Tomorrow” said, “I feel anxious after saving money and guilty when I spend it. I don’t even go out for appointments with friends to save money, so my boyfriend is worried about my reduced human relationship. Consumption is very inconvenient.”

When asked about their goal, Salt answered, “My goal is to have an asset of 500 million won in my 30s, then retire and do what I want.” Oh Eun-young said, “Money is your pride, and you don’t want to do what you don’t like.” When Tomorrow confessed “I want to live a monthly rent life. I have a dream of an apartment with Han River view”, Oh Eun-young sharply analyzed, “Then, it’s not that you have a huge desire for materiality, it’s that money makes you feel stable.”

In response, Han Ga-in advised, “I traveled abroad with my mom before giving birth to my baby, and she still talks about it. Every time we do it, it’s not a waste of money. I want to go again if I have a chance. Now she can’t walk a lot because her feet hurt. We might miss the timing.” Oh Eun-young also added, “Even with proper consumption experience, you have to judge the important value of the future and the value of consumption. I hope you feel invisible happiness and cost-effectiveness.”

Meanwhile, “Circle House” is SBS’ healing talk show where realistic worries of the MZ generation in Korea will be candidly shared to seek solutions. It airs every Thursday at 9 PM.
