ENA’s “Strangers Again” ends on a quiet note with low rating despite capable leading actors

Viewers felt regret for the series’ lost potential.

On February 23rd, “Strangers Again” aired the last episode of its run with a the highest rating during the course of its airing, at 1.76%, a surprisingly low figure for a drama by ENA with a star couple as leading actors.

Marking Kang So Ra’s return to the screen, “Strangers Again” tells the story of a divorced couple attempting to reignite old flames. In the series, Oh Ha Ra (Kang So Ra) is a star divorce lawyer, often called the “goddess of litigation.” One day, she unexpectedly becomes colleagues with her ex-husband, Goo Eun Beom (Jang Seung Jo), another hotshot lawyer of the field.

“Strangers Again” received the most praise from the visual attractiveness and auras of the lead couple. Both well-known in the field for their respective works, Kang So Ra and Jang Seung Jo returned with enviable youthful images despite well into their 30s and 40s and presented a mature chemistry that could rarely be found elsewhere.

However, the acting and visuals alone were not able to salvage the drama. The plot was remarked to be predictable and uninventive. The series’ mid-week airing schedule on ENA also played into the series’ overall mild-to-low performance. In the end, the drama was not able to reach a good performance as it was expected, despite being Kang So Ra’s return drama and ENA’s first release of the year.
