Many fans are very irritated because Red Velvet members were responded by some male fans with disrespectful messages.
LYSN is an application exclusively for fans of groups from SM Entertainment. In this application, the most popular feature among fans is Bubble where they can receive messages directly from their idols in the chat box, even though these are the same messages that idols send to all paid members.
SM artists always text fans through Bubble, but not all interactions are responded with positive messages. Recently, an user on Pann uploaded screenshots of the messages from some male fans, replying to two members of Red Velvet, Irene and Seulgi. Notably, the content of these messages contain vulgar language and are disrespectful to the female idols.
In fact, idols can see all the messages that fans reply to them. However, because the number of messages from fans is very large, the chance of Irene and Seulgi reading these rude messages is 50/50. Previously, LYSN did not allow idols to receive messages from fans, but after adding the Bubble feature, the application promised to filter out messages with negative and disrespectful content. However, many fans are mad because such messages are still sent to idols’ accounts.
Immediately, these rude messages make Knetz extremely angry. Many people are irritated when seeing that while Irene and Seulgi treat their fans sincerely, they are likely to read disrespectful messages like that. Not stopping there, those fans who texted these offensive messages even took screenshots, bragged, and shared with others as if they did something cool. Regarding Red Velvet’s fandom, they urge SM to strictly manage LYSN, even if necessary, to disable the feature of idols receiving messages from fans to avoid unfortunate incidents .
What do you think when idols have to receive messages with such disrespectful content? How should SM manage this messaging feature?
