“2022 APAN”: from Song Joong-ki, Son Seok-gu, Kim Soo-hyun to Kim Tae-ri, Park Eun-bin, the most nominations ever
Nominations for awards in each category of the “2022 APAN STAR AWARDS” have been released.
On the morning of August 31st, the “2022 APAN STAR AWARDS” Executive Office announced the award nominees for each category for actors and dramas aired on terrestrial, general, cable, OTT, and web from March 2021 to July 2022.
The “2022 APAN STAR AWARDS” newly established the OTT award category for the first time this year. Reflecting changes of the era in which OTT original content is increasing worldwide, this particular award results is a hot debate topic online as dramas streamed as original content on OTT platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Seezn, Apple TV Plus, Watcha, Wavve, Coupang Play, TVing, etc. are included.
Kim Soo-hyun (One Ordinary Day), Yoo Ah-in (Hellbound), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Im Si-wan (Tracer), and Jung Hae-in (D.P.) competed for the OTT Best Actor, while Kim Go-eun (Yumi’s Cells 2), Kim Sung-ryeong (Yumi’s Cells), Kim Hye-soo (Juvenile Justice), and Han So-hee (My Name) were named as nominees for the OTT Best Actress.
Another highlight of the “2022 APAN STAR AWARDS” is the soap opera category. With the improvement of viewers’ love for K-drama and filming conditions, many dramas have recently been produced on a seasonal basis, and seasonal dramas have been classified as soap operas in recognition of the continuity of its narrative, which is the strength of seasonal dramas.
Nominations for Best Actor in a soap opera include Um Ki-joon (Penthouse 2, Penthouse 3), Yoon Si-yoon (Beautiful Now), Lee Tae-gon (Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) 2), Joo Sang-wook (Taejong Lee Bang-won), and Ji Hyun-woo (Young Lady and Gentleman), while Best Actress of a soap opera has Kim So-yeon (Penthouse 2, Penthouse 3), Park Joo-mi (Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) 2, Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) 3), Park Jin-hee (Taejong Lee Bang-won), Eom Hyun-kyung (Second Husband), and Choi Myung-gil (Red Shoes) as nominees.
Kang Young-seok (Military Prosecutor Doberman, Insider), Park Seo-ham (Semantic Error), Yoon Chan-young (All Of Us Are Dead), Choi Hyun-wook (Racket Boys, 25, 21), Tang Jun-sang (Move to Heaven, Racket Boys) are nominated for Best New Actor, while Choi Yoon-seo (Insider), Park Ji-ho (All Of Us Are Dead), Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), Jo Yi-hyun (All Of Us Are Dead, School 2021) and Choi Sung-eun (Beyond Evil) are nominated for Best New Actress.
Kim Nam-gil (Through the Darkness), Namgoong-min (The Veil), Song Joong-ki (Vincenzo), Lee Joon-ho (The Red Sleeve), and Lee Je-hoon (Taxi Driver) were nominated for Best Actor in a mini-series.
Kim Tae-ri (25, 21), Park Eun-bin (The King’s Affection, Extraordinary Attorney Woo), Seo Hyun-jin (Why Her), Shin Min-ah (Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Our Blues), and Lee Ha-ni (One The Woman) were the finalists for the category of Best Actress in a mini-series.
The winners of the Grand Prize of “APAN STAR AWARD” each year include Son Hyun-joo, Song Hye-kyo, Cho In-sung, Kim Soo-hyun, Song Joong-ki, Lee Byung-hun, and Hyun Bin who won the 7th APAN STAR AWARDS in 2020. Attention is focusing on who will be given the Grand Prize of the “2022 APAN STAR AWARD.”
Meanwhile, the “2022 APAN STAR AWARDS” is hosted by the Korea Entertainment Management Association, co-hosted by Studio Mwon, and officially recognized by related organizations such as the Korea Entertainment Producers Association, the Korea Federation of Popular Culture and Arts Industries, and the Korea Management Association.
