“Queen Of Tears” So Close To Surpass 300 Million Hours Of Global Cumulative Viewing Time

tvN’s popular drama “Queen of Tears” is right ahead of surpassing 300 million hours of cumulative global viewing time

tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears” depicts the love story of chaebol Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) and her husband Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) as they find love again after facing a crisis in the third year of their marriage. Released simultaneously on tvN, TVING, and Netflix, the drama just ended on April 28th.

According to Netflix’s announcement, “Queen of Tears” had recorded a cumulative viewing time of 287.6 million hours until April 21st. Considering the drama’s viewing time has increased steadily for the past seven consecutive weeks, it is expected to surpass 300 million hours soon.

In fact, the drama recently placed No.2 in the weekly ranking on the global OTT ranking service FlixPatrol in the fourth week of April (April 22nd – 28th), which is the highest ranking for K-dramas.  

Not only in Korea, “Queen of Tears” also keen attention from overseas media outlets even after the drama ended. Right after the last episode was aired on the 28th, the US entertainment media outlet Screen Rant, “Korea has always been doing so great with the romance genre, but they evolved a lot in recent years by combining modern elements”, adding “This is the reason why ‘Queen of Tears’ successfully captured the hearts of so many viewers around the world”.

In addition, UK newspapers NME, Singapore’s biggest daily newspaper The Straits Times, Times of India, etc. also highlighted the news that “Queen of Tears” became the highest-rating drama in tvN history with its final broadcast.

Meanwhile, the last episode of “Queen of Tears” achieved an average rating of 28.4% in the Seoul area with a real-time peak of 31% and 24.9% nationwide with a peak of 27.3%. In addition, the drama also topped the TV-OTT popularity chart released by Good Data Corporation in the 4th week of April, maintaining the No.1 spot for 8 consecutive weeks.
