Lee Jung-jae Announces “Squid Game 2” Release In December

Viewers around the world will be able to watch the long-awaited Season 2 of “Squid Game” at the end of this year

According to the US newspaper Business Insider’s report on May 14th (local time), Lee Jung-jae just announced that “Squid Game 2” will premiere in December on the red carpet of Disney Upfront.

“Squid Game” is a Netflix series about people participating in a mysterious survival game and risking their lives in extreme challenges to win the prize money of 45.6 billion won.

Released in 2021, Season 1 of “Squid Game” created a craze all over the world and led to a K-content syndrome. Season 2, which marks the return of “Squid Game” after three years, is expected to be successful again with a large number of new faces alongside the existing cast such as Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-joon. The new actors participating in the new season are Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, and former BIGBANG member T.O.P.

Netflix only hinted that “Squid Game 2” would be released within this year and has not yet disclosed the specific time. 

In the meantime, the leading actor Lee Jung-jae made headlines as he confirmed the December release by himself. Showing up on the red carpet of Disney Upfront to promote “The Acolyte”, Lee Jung-jae announced the big news about “Squid Game 2”, drawing keen attention from global viewers. 

Earlier in April, Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos unveiled that “Squid Game 2” was on the premiere schedule in the second half of this year.
