NewJeans’s “OMG” MV Full Of Comments About HYBE’s Cult Allegations

Although HYBE has clarified suspicions about connections to cult, NewJeans’s “OMG” MV is still flooded with cult-related comments

On April 28th, HYBE released a notice via BTS’s Weverse account, saying “It has come to our attention that organizational efforts aimed at tarnishing and slandering the artists have escalated in recent weeks. Furthermore, malicious attempts to defame, humiliate and ridicule the artists or spread rumors and groundless information have become excessive.”

They emphasized, “The company views these actions as severe violation to the artists’ rights and will respond decisively, engaging with another law firm to reinforce our existing legal measures”, adding “We are collecting evidence of malicious postings through real-time monitoring as we speak. We will maintain a zero-tolerance policy and pursue this matter rigorously, without leniency or settlements.”

Earlier, suspicions of HYBE’s connection to the ‘Dahnworld’ cult spread quickly in various online communities. Some netizens claimed that members of BTS and TXT, the boy groups under HYBE’s label Big Hig Music attended a school that is deeply related to the cult.

In the meantime, the Kakaotalk conversation revealed by ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin also drew attention. At the press conference on April 25th, Min Hee-jin pointed at the Kakaotalk messages and said, “They threatened me with ‘OMG’ music video”.

In response, many netizens shared posts suggesting that NewJeans’s “OMG” music video might be criticizing this cult organization, claiming that it was not just a coincidence. Currently, the comment section of “OMG” music video is full of comments about this issue.

Netizens commented, “The fact that HYBE’s sin is real, not just a joke, shocked me the most”, “Now I understand why Min Hee-jin burst into tears whenever she mentioned NewJeans”, “Min Hee-jin said at the press conference that she would never die on her own. I got goosebumps”, “Not just worrying about social pressures, I think we should urgently protect Min Hee-jin and NewJeans”, “Min Hee-jin’s life was really on the line at the press conference”, “Let’s protect Min Hee-jin and NewJeans”, “Min Hee-jin fighting!”, “If these comments disappear, it’s HYBE who removes them”, etc.

In addition, there are also speculations that the debut song “Magnetic” of the girl group ILLIT under Belift Lab, another label of HYBE, is also related to Dahnworld as their choreography with unusual finger movements is also linked to the cult.

However, HYBE has strongly denied all the allegations of connections to the Dahnworld cult.
