Sakura’s charms are endless.
Former IZ*ONE and LE SSERAFIM member Sakura is one of the most popular 4th generation female K-pop idols. Not only is she famous for her pretty visuals, Sakura receives fans’ love for how funny, down-to-earth, and hardworking she is.
Before debuting in the K-pop scene, Sakura was a member of Japanese idol girl groups HKT48 and AKB48. When she was active in Japan, with her lovely, innocent beauty, beside singing and dancing, she also engaged in activities in acting, modeling, and streaming. When participating in variety shows, Sakura also showed off her great entertainment skills.
In 2018, Sakura’s journey began in Korea. She competed on Mnet’s survival program “Produce 48”. Starting out as the center of the show’s theme song “Nekkoya” to finishing as the runner-up of the competition, Sakura successfully debuted in the project girl group IZ*ONE and attracted a large fanbase in Korea, Japan, China, and more.
During the time as an active member of IZ*ONE, Sakura continued to boast her irresistible charm as an idol. She pulled off different concepts and never failed to gain spotlight in every performance.
After IZ*ONE disbanded, Sakura signed with HYBE Labels and debuted in LE SSERAFIM, the first collaborative girl group between HYBE and Source Music. LE SSERAFIM’s debut has introduced a complete transformation of the Japan-born female idol. Sakura stunned netizens and fans in a new mature, sexy, and fierce image.
When LE SSERAFIM published the profile photo, Sakura was said to have undergone plastic surgery, leaving fans a bit disappointed, but overall, all of them supported her decision. Sakura once said about her re-debut, “LE SSERAFIM will probably be my last debut and my last group, so I really want to do well”.
In particular, in addition to her talent and her best efforts to pursue her passion, Sakura is also loved by fans for her straightforward personality. Recently, the female idol has expressed her views on gender equality. Specifically, in an interview with Weverse Magazine, Sakura was asked: “We need to improve understanding of the LGBTQ+ community”.
The female idol was not afraid to share: “There was actually an atmosphere of caution around idols speaking their minds around that time. But I thought I could say that anyway. Idols don’t just sing and dance on stage—they can also be role models for people, and someone who is always by their side for others.“
“So I wanted to let people know there were others with these kinds of thoughts, and I also thought that if an idol was talking about the issue that even more people could become aware of it, too. Some day our group might sing a song about love and I have this idea that I’d like to sing about love that’s universal.” – She added
Sakura has a lot of fans because of her talent and stunning appearance. However, it is her compassionate personality that has kept fans loyal to the female idol for so long.
