Actress-singer Uhm Jung Hwa appeared on “You Quiz on the Block” and recalled the difficult times after thyroid cancer surgery.
On the June 7th broadcast of tvN’s entertainment program “You Quiz on the Block” (hereinafter referred to as “You Quiz”), multi-entertainer Uhm Jung Hwa joined as a You Quizzer.
Uhm Jung Hwa greeted her second heyday by playing the main character Cha Jeong Suk in the drama “Doctor Cha”. Regarding this, Uhm Jung Hwa said that she seemed to feel a hot response again after 20 years. However, Uhm Jung Hwa once thought, “Will I be able to sing again?”
Uhm Jung Hwa confessed that she lost her voice for about 8 months due to thyroid cancer surgery after her 2008 album “D.I.S.C.O”. Uhm Jung Hwa recalled her feelings at that time, “I hid it because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do what I wanted to do. The fear when my voice didn’t come out was enormous.”
But Uhm Jung Hwa had a chance to perform again as a member of “Refund Sisters”, a project group of “Hangout with Yoo”. Uhm Jung Hwa added that Yoo Jae Suk’s help gave her courage.
Uhm Jung Hwa then said, “I really wanted to sing again. When I heard that I wouldn’t be able to sing, if I gave up and quit my career as a singer, I could live like that, but I didn’t want to. I wanted to say goodbye on stage.” Besides, about her trembling voice, Uhm Jung Hwa expressed her wish, “I hope you’ll accept that my voice is like this.”
