Expectations are heating up for more K-dramas to be released this September. Here are the upcoming female lead characters of the Korean small screen who promise to create much buzz.
Kwon Yuri
After the hit “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, cable TV channel ENA will broadcast “Good Job” in the same time slot. The drama will premiere on August 24 and is led by Girls’ Generation’s Kwon Yuri alongside her former co-star from “Bossam: Steal The Fate”, Jung Il Woo.
In “Good Job”, Kwon Yuri plays a girl with a positive energy and a “super vision”. Thanks to this special ability, she will join the male lead in investigating and solving cases. Last year, Kwon Yuri contributed to the success of “Bossam: Steal The Fate”, making it the most successful drama in the history of MBN. Therefore, expectations for her performance in “Good Job” are high.
Lee Yoo Mi
Following the global success of Netflix original series “Squid Game” and “All Of Us Are Dead”, Lee Yoo Mi landed her first lead role in “Mental Coach Je Gal Gil”, a sports-themed drama about mental health. It will be broadcast on tvN starting from September 12.
Lee Yoo Mi’s character is a world-class short-distance skater, but she struggles to stay at the top. Things then take a turn when she meets a psychiatrist. A sports drama that explores the athletes’ mentality is definitely worth tuning into.
Lee Se Young
After the hit “The Red Sleeve”, Lee Se Young is about to return to the small screen in “The Law Cafe”, where she plays a pretty lawyer with eye-catching fashion and an interesting personality. The drama is set to air on KBS2 starting from September 5.
In “The Law Cafe”, Lee Se Young will reunite with Lee Seung Gi. The two were once co-stars in the 2018 drama “A Korean Odyssey”. Her same-aged friend Park Eun Bin recently hit the jackpot with a lawyer role in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, so hopefully Lee Se Young will also transform into another charming K-drama lawyer of 2022.
Jung Eun Ji
5 years after JTBC’s “Untouchable”, Apink’s Jung Eun Ji is finally coming back in a TV drama. She is part of the cast of tvN’s upcoming legal drama “Blind”, which also stars Ha Seok Jin and Ok Taec Yeon. “Blind” will air its first episode on September 16.
“Blind” is a story about the victims of unfair trials. The drama will follow the main characters on their journey of uncovering the truth, finding justice for those who were wrongly judged in court, and making the bad guys pay the price.
Kim Go Eun – Nam Ji Hyun – Park Ji Hoo
One of the most highly anticipated K-dramas next month is tvN’s “Little Women” that is scheduled to premiere on September 3. Female-led dramas have continued to achieve success lately, so “Little Women” is drawing great expectations as it centers on a trio of sisters portrayed by Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, and Park Ji Hoo.
These three sisters will have their lives changed forever when entangled in a mysterious case with Korea’s richest family. “Little Women” marks Kim Go Eun and Park Ji Hoo’s second drama comeback this year after “Yumi’s Cells 2” and “All Of Us Are Dead”. As for Nam Ji Hyun, this is her first drama since “365: Repeat The Year” released in 2020.
Park Min Young
After JTBC’s “Forecasting Love And Weather” aired earlier this year, “rom-com queen” Park Min Young is getting ready to return in another work of her favorite genre, tvN’s “Love In Contract”. The first episode will come out on September 21.
What makes “Love In Contract” different from Park Min Young’s previous works is that it seems to be more female-driven with Park Min Young’s character being at the front and center. She will portray an attractive woman with a special job, a contract marriage master who becomes the fake wife of her single male clients.
