Lee Do-hyun Won Best New Actor In Film At 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards, “Thank You Ji-yeon ah”
The 60th Baeksang Arts Awards took place at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on May 7th announced Lee Do-hyun as the winner of Best New Actor in the Film category.
Lee Do-hyun was honored with Best New Actor in the Film category with his debut film “Exhuma”. He beat other nominees, including “The Childe” Kim Seon-ho, “Big Sleep” Kim Young-seong, “Iron Mask” Joo Jong-hyuk and “Hwaran” Hong Xa-bin, to win the award.
Taking the stage in his Air Force uniform, Lee Do-hyun did the greeting as a soldier, saying “I’m Corporal Lim Dong-hyun and Lee Do-hyun, who was active as an actor”.
He emotionally shared, “I just came out of the army this morning. They told me to prepare an acceptance speech but I didn’t do it so I’m regretting it now. I sincerely thank director Jang Jae-hyun for casting me in ‘Exhuma’”.
He continued, “I was very happy to act with senior actors Choi Min-sik, Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Go-eun and other actors”, adding “During the filming of ‘Exhuma’, I was doing two projects at the same time. As such, there were various problems with my schedules and I might have caused inconvenience to other people. I would like to thank the senior actors and Kim Go-eun noona for their consideration as they always comforted me by saying ‘Go and work harder’, ‘Take care of your health’, etc.”.
Lee Do-hyun confessed, “The character Bong-gil in ‘Exhuma’ was not easy. I was so upset with the director. The lines were so difficult”, adding “However, for me, who believes acting is never easy, it was a huge opportunity and challenge. That’s why I worked hard to prepare for the role. I will do better next time. Please consider me again”.
In addition, Lee Do-hyun said, “My beloved father, mother, brother, my pet dog Gaeul… and Ji-yeon ah, thank you so much”. Upon his mention of his lover Lim Ji-yeon, the audience cheered loudly.
Lastly, he said, “I heard Baeksang is 60 years old this year. I’ll be 40 when it turns 70. Therefore, I will work hard to become actor Lee Do-hyun who can challenge Best Actor at the age of 40. After today, I’ll continue doing my best with my military service as soldier Lim Dong-hyun and greet everyone as Lee Do-hyun again in May next year”.
