“People want to be celebrities for a reason” Here’s why Lee Hyori had to close her cafe just 2 days after opening

“We think it will cause inconvenience to nearby residents, so we have decided to operate through a reservation system.”

Lee Hyori and her husband, guitarist Lee Sangsoon, recently opened a cafe in Jeju Island but had to temporarily close it after only two days to make the reservation system available. Without reservation, the cafe was too crowded and service could not proceed, because of its huge popularity.

On July 3rd, Lee Hyori and Lee Sangsoon’s cafe posted a surprise message on Instagram, two days after opening, saying, “To those who waited for a long time in the hot weather, those who returned home because we ran out of ingredients and could not receive more customers, thank you so much and we are sorry.“

Regarding the reason, the cafe explained, “We have come to the conclusion that we will have to operate through a reservation system for the time being because it will cause inconvenience to nearby residents to run the cafe as it is. We ask for your understanding, and on Sunday, July 3rd, we will take a break for reorganization.”

Despite congratulations from netizens, Hyori Lee decided that it might cause inconvenience to the surrounding residents and eventually changed the cafe to a reservation system. Since she always pursues a life of cohabitation and doesn’t want to cause trouble for others, her decision is appreciated by many netizens. Some comments from netizens, “This is Lee Hyori…”, “They could have continued to run the cafe since it was quite a famous place, but they closed it in order not to cause inconvenience to others”, “It hasn’t been easy to make such a decision in two days, it’s pretty impressive”.

Meanwhile, Hyori Lee and Lee Sang-soon are living in Jeju after getting married. In 2017, JTBC’s entertainment program ‘Hyori’s Homestay’ about her daily life on Jeju Island was aired. Many fans were touched by her decision to turn the cafe into a reservation system for fans.
