Actress Honey Lee showed off her hidden dancing skills.
The new teaser for tvN’s entertainment program “You Quiz on the Block” was released on YouTube on January 18th and drew the attention of netizens. The preview features Honey Lee, who recently resumed her activities after giving birth.
Honey Lee introduced Honey Lee, saying, “There is a reason why we invited Honey Lee today. The theme is ‘Lost Talent.’ Isn’t she a Korean traditional music talent taken away by the entertainment industry?” He then asked Honey Lee, “You are literally from a Korean traditional music family. Was it burdensome as a member of the family?”
Honey Lee said, “I had a difficult childhood. People came to see me and asked, ‘Whose younger sister, whose daughter is she?’ I was such a free soul, but I had to get hit by it without being prepared.”
She continued, “I was trained to sit still facing the wall and practice instruments for 10 hours. It was so hard,” opening up about her childhood struggles.
When Yoo Jae Suk asked, “There is an anecdote that you auditioned to become a singer. Is it true that you were a trainee for 2NE1 with Park Bom and Gong Minzy at YG Entertainment for a year and a half?” Honey Lee replied shyly, “Yes.”
She explained, “After entering graduate school, I thought, ‘I will do what I want to do.’ So I auditioned. I had to live the life of a graduate school student, so I woke up at dawn, practiced, took classes, danced in the afternoon, and practiced until dawn. I slept and went out at dawn again.”
She went on to say, “During the day, I was discreet as a graduate student. In the afternoon and dawn, I was active like a flower that blooms at night.”
Honey Lee also performed a surprise dance for Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho, as they were curious about her dancing skills.
Honey Lee seemed to hesitate for a moment, then surprised everyone with her bold dance moves. After watching Honey Lee’s comical dance, Yoo Jae Suk couldn’t hold back his laughter. He said, “Wait a minute. What is this dance? Are you sure you were a YG trainee?”
Embarrassed, Honey Lee said awkwardly, “I don’t know. The stylist asked me not to spread my legs like that…”
Jo Se Ho said, “Amazing bounce. What was the waving dance you learned at YG?”. Honey Lee then showed off her wave dance skills confidently. Seeing this, Yoo Jae Suk reacted, “You dance so well”.
Honey Lee is the daughter of Moon Jae Suk, known as a master of Gayageum, Korea’s traditional musical instrument and intangible cultural asset. She graduated from Gugak National Secondary and High School, then studied Korean traditional music (Gayageum) at Seoul National University.
Honey Lee debuted in the entertainment industry after winning Miss Korea in 2006. After going through the trainee days to pursue her dream of becoming a singer, Honey Lee turned to acting.
She made her debut as an actress in KBS 2TV’s “The Partner”. Since then, the actress has been active by starring in various works, such as “Pasta”, “Immortal Classic”, “Shark”, “Come Back Mister”, “The Rebel”, “Tazza: The Hidden Card”, “The Bros”, “The Fiery Priest”, “Extreme Job”, “One the Woman”, “Alienoid Part 1”, etc.
Honey Lee married a non-celebrity in December 2021 and gave birth to her daughter in June last year. After spending a long time devoting herself to childcare, Honey Lee is greeting viewers again through the movie “Phantom”.
The new episode of “You Quiz on the Block”, starring Honey Lee, will air on tvN at 8:40 p.m. KST on the same day.
