aespa Karina: “As soon as I heard the new song “Girls”, it feels like an SM song” 

Karina, a member of aespa, expressed her feelings when she first listened to her group’s title song “Girls”

On July 12th, famous Kpop girl group aespa, who recently made a comeback with their new song “Girls”, appeared on the MBC FM4U radio show “Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope”, where they shared their thoughts about the new song.

Here, DJ Kim Shin Young asked: “I heard the new song ‘Girls’ and it’s really powerful. How did you feel when you first heard the song?”

Karina confessed, “To be honest, I thought it was like a real SMP (SM company performance/genre). Among the SM seniors, I could really listen to all the songs of seniors NCT, TVXQ, and SHINee.”

Kim Shin Young expressed her agreement, saying: “That’s right. There is that feeling. I think the song came to aespa because you guys can pull it off.”

Karina also recalled the past while preparing for the new song, sharing: “I listened to this song “Girls” and thought a lot about how we should deliver it.”

aespa released their 2nd mini album “Girls” on July 8th. For this comeback, the group became the first Kpop girl group to appear in the “Good Morning America 2022 Summer Concert Series”, which was held at Playfield, a large concert hall in Central Park, New York, USA. 

The album “Girls” has surpassed a total of 1.61 million copies in pre-orders, breaking the record for the highest pre-order number for a K-pop girl group. In addition, with their album sales, aespa also managed to surpass BLACKPINK, becoming the Kpop female artist with the highest first-week sales.
