4 underrated K-dramas starring famous actors that you should not miss

These dramas deserve more attention.

The following 4 dramas are not commercial hits with high ratings, but they all have engaging storylines and excellent casts.

1. Chicago Typewriter

Chicago Typewriter is considered the most regrettable drama in Yoo Ah In‘s career because it failed to achieve high ratings despite drawing positive reviews. This is also one of the rare times in his career Yoo Ah In starred in a romance. Chicago Typewriter revolves around patriotic young adults during the Japanese occupation of Korea. The story intertwines the characters’ afterlives when they meet again and have to resolve the enmity in their past lives.

2. Doctor John

Ji Sung is known as the “master” of picking scripts because his dramas are all high-quality, and Doctor John is no exception. Unfortunately, the drama is not so famous, especially when compared to other successful series led by Ji Sung. The main character of Doctor John is Cha Yo Han – a genius doctor of the anesthesiology department who suffers from a rare disease called congenital insensitivity to pain. His life changes for the better after he meets resident Kang Si Young at the hospital. Doctor John has a moving story, helping viewers understand the pain of those who battle chronic illnesses.

3. Navillera

Navillera is a rare drama by Song Kang that is not known by many even though it is from the same producer of Love Alarm. Navillera tells the story of Shim Deok Chul (Park In Hwan) who is a retired postman at the age of 70. He decides to follow his lifelong dream of studying ballet, although this is opposed by his family. At the dance academy, he meets Lee Chae Rok (Song Kang), a 23-year-old dancer who becomes interested in ballet after trying different sports. “No matter how old you are, follow your dreams because you only live once” is the meaningful message of the drama.

4. Hyena

Hyena’s ratings are not too low, but its coverage on the media and social networks is not high, probably because the drama’s subject is not so friendly to the majority of general viewers. Hyena centers on two lawyers who work for the richest 1% group in Korea. Starring A-listers Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Hye Soo, Hyena is a compelling trial drama that you may have missed.
