A male dancer was crushed by a 600kg LED screen, while an idol had to be hospitalized.
On July 28th, while the Hong Kong male idol group Mirror was performing on stage, a 600kg LED screen suddenly fell down, causing 2 people to be injured. A video which captured the incident raised concerns among netizens, who worry about the condition of people on the stage. As of the moment, Mirror’s entertainment agency has spoken up, revealing that 2 male dancers were injured and one is now receiving treatment in the ER.
One dancer only had light surface injuries, but the incident had done quite the number of his mentality, resulting in anxiety and serious panic, and is recommended to stay hospitalized. Meanwhile, the other dancer fell into a coma after being crushed by the LED screen. He has since regained consciousness and can answer some questions from doctors, but his condition is severe with serious injuries around his neck. As a consequence, he will need to stay in the hospital for further treatments and analysis.
Following the incident, the CEO of Mirror’s agency issued an official apology to the victims, promised to cover all of their hospital fees, and would continue to give updates on their conditions.
In addition, despite suffering from no injuries, Arson Lo, a member of Mirror, who watched the entire thing unfold, had to be hospitalized to get treatment for anxiety and panic. To make it worse, this is far from Mirror’s first stage accident, as the group stumbled into 5 other issues within just 4 nights, according to media site HK01. Previously, another member, Frankie, fell down from the stairs right on stage, while poor facilities caused others to trip, and props to constantly fall.
Mirror is a famous idol group who has gained immense popularity in Hong Kong. The group plans to hold a series of 12 performances, and has since completed 4. However, with the latest stage accident, the remaining 8 performances will be postponed, as investigations are commenced to detect and resolve possible causes. Over 13,000 fans of the group also signed a petition that demanded for better precaution and preparation of stage facilities, in order to properly protect group members and other performers.
As of the moment, various other artists have sent well wishes to the victims, in hope for their full recovery. Media channels also canceled several programs to cover news regarding this stage mishap.
