Son Ye Jin once turned down a part in the drama that helped Park Min Young shoot to fame

Before Park Min Young was brought in, Son Ye Jin was considered for the female lead role in this iconic drama.

Throughout her career, Son Ye Jin has rejected many casting offers. One of the parts she turned down that caused the audience to feel the most regret is probably Sungkyunkwan Scandal. In 2010, this historical drama was released and became a hit, making it the perfect  launch pad for actors like Park Min Young, Yoo Ah In, and Song Joong Ki to rise to stardom. It’s more regrettable when the reason Son Ye Jin turned down Sungkyunkwan Scandal was to take on a role in Personal Taste, co-starring with Lee Min Ho, one of the rare “flopped” works in Son Ye Jin‘s career.

After Son Ye Jin turned down the role, Park Min Young was brought in to play the female lead Kim Yoon Hee of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Thanks to this role, Park Min Young became a rising actress, boosted her reputation and received many awards that year. Looking back at Son Ye Jin’s lovely visuals when she crossdressed in a historical drama in the past, fans can’t help but regret because she could have been perfect for the female lead character of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Though objectively speaking, both Son Ye Jin and Park Min Young are… too pretty to disguise themselves as men.
