Haha’s wife, singer Byul, talked about why she has been trying to set Kim Jong Kook up on blind dates for ten years.
Byul appeared on KBS2’s entertainment program “Problem Child in House”, which aired on January 25th, and talked about Kim Jong Kook, her husband Haha‘s best friend.
Byul said, “The two (Haha and Kim Jong Kook) are very close friends. Even before our marriage, I knew that Kim Jong Kook was a dear older brother to Haha. They secretly met up without telling me,” recalling when she was dating Haha.
Byul continued, “When I went to Haha’s father’s 70th birthday party, ‘Running Man’ members were there. Jae Suk and Kwang Soo were all there. Everyone thought I came because I was close to Haha. But we told them that we were getting married there.”
Kim Jong Kook confessed his true feelings about the sudden marriage announcement at the time, “I dropped the spoon in shock. (I thought) Haha was single. A colleague who would always share his concerns with me said he was getting married without telling me in advance.”
In response, Byul said with a laugh, “Everyone was congratulating us. Only Kim Jong Kook didn’t,” and Kim Jong Kook admitted, “I no longer had a friend to share concerns with.”
Byul then said, “From then on, I wanted to find Kim Jong Kook a partner quickly so we could all travel together. That’s why I’ve been trying to fix him up for ten years. There’s no one in the entertainment industry that hasn’t come to my mind.”
Kim Jong Kook reacted, “I really hate being set up on dates.” Byul added, “I think his standard is a bit high. I’m always searching.”
Meanwhile, Kim Jong Kook and Haha have been running the meat restaurant ‘401 Meat Restaurant’ since mid-2017. Currently, they have branches in Mapo-gu, Seoul and Haeundae, Busan.
