BLACKPINK, NewJeans and IVE topped the circle chart in August.. Girl groups are gaining big success
In August, girl groups showed remarkable performances, with BLACKPINK, NewJeans, and IVE taking first place in the major charts.
The Korea Music Contents Association, which operates the circle chart, announced, “Blackpink’s ‘Pink Venom’ topped the global Kpop chart in the monthly circle chart in August 2022.”
BLACKPINK also took first place on the Social Chart 2.0, where internet users can intuitively check the global popularity of K-Pop stars, and won a total of two crowns. In My Celebrities, the keywords for BLACKPINK’s charm were ‘harmonious’, ‘dreamlike’, and ‘to stand tall’. The artist that showed the biggest rise in rankings on social charts in August was Girls’ Generation.
With their debut song ‘Attention’, NewJeans took first place on digital and streaming charts. ‘Attention’ topped the digital and streaming charts for weeks 34th-35th of the last circle chart for 2 weeks in a row.
On the album chart, IVE’s ‘After LIKE’, released on August 22, topped the charts with sales of 1,110,177 copies.
On the download chart, Lim Young-woong’s title song “Can We Meet Again” from his first full-length album “IM HERO” has remained at the top for four consecutive months.
On the 36th week (202.08.28. ~ 2022.09.03.) of circle chart, which was released together, Blackpink’s ‘Pink Venom’ ranked No. 1 on the global K-pop chart for 3 weeks in a row. IVE topped the digital and streaming charts with ‘After LIKE’. KEY topped the album chart with ‘Gasoline – The 2nd Album’, and topped the download chart with the title song of the same name.
