7 highly anticipated Korean dramas to be released in February

New dramas starring top actresses, such as Son Ye-jin, Park Min-young, Kim Tae-ri, etc., are expected to bring lots of excitement to the viewers this month.

Twenty-Five Twenty-One

Release date: February 12th

Set in 1998 during the IMF crisis in Korea, this coming-of-age drama tells the story of young people growing up and trying to find new ways in their life. Kim Tae-ri plays the fencing athlete Na Hee-do. Due to the IMF, her fencing team was suddenly disbanded. However, Na Hee-do still tries to overcome difficulties and becomes a member of the national fencing team.

Nam Joo-hyuk takes on the role of Baek Yi-jin, the eldest son of a family that was destroyed by the IMF. Yi-jin has to do many part-time jobs to support his life and study. He then becomes a sports reporter of a big broadcasting station. Baek Yi-jin and Na Hee-do meet and fall in love with each other when they are 25 and 21.

Forecasting Love and Weather

This TV series centers around the life, work and love of people working in the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Park Min-young plays KMA’s general forecaster Jin Ha-kyung, who looks cold on the outside and always follows the rules. Song Kang will appear as Lee Shi-woo, a quick-witted and talented weather forecaster. The two meet each other as colleagues then develop into lovers.

This drama is directed by Cha Young-hoon, who was behind the success of “When The Camellia Blooms”, “Uncontrollably Fond”, “Dr. Romantic”, etc. Apart from the two leads, Yoon Park and Yura also participate in this project as Han Ki-joon and Chae Yoo-jin.

“Thirty-Nine”

This drama depicts the life and friendship of three women at the age of 39. Son Ye-jin plays Cha Mi-jo, the director of a Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul. Mi-jo is a nice and friendly woman. She was born in a wealthy family so her life has been full of successes.

Jeon Mi-do takes on the role of Jeong Chan-young, who turns to be an acting teacher after failing to reach her dream of becoming an actress. Chang-young is straightforward and quite strict but she’s a nice person. Kim Ji-hyun will perform as Jang Joo-hee, a cosmetics manager at a department store. Joo-hee has never dated anyone because of her shy personality.

This is a mystery-thriller-action drama telling the story that happens when a ghost appears in the human world after two decades, helping a serial killer escape.

Lee Si-young will play the ghost. Meanwhile, Seo Kang-joon, Kim Ah-joong, Kim Moo-yeol will take on the role of people who are trying to find out the mystery because of their own reasons.

Juvenile Justice

This drama centers around Sim Eun-seok (Kim Hye-soo), an elite judge with a cold and distant personality. She was the victim of a minor crime in the past so she always dislike juveniles.

After being appointed as the judge of the place where the rate of juvenile crimes is the highest, she begins to deal with complex cases with her own ways.

Director Hong Jong-chan was in charge of directing this drama. Actors Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Sung-min and Lee Jung-eun also appear alongside Kim Hye-soo.
