5 K-pop idols who have bad luck when switching to acting (ft. BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, NCT’s Jaehyun, and more)

Fans are always excited for the news of K-pop idols making their acting debuts. However, the following idols’ acting careers have been uneasy because they constantly experience bad luck.

There are many well-rounded Kpop idols who not only sing and dance well but also do a great job at modeling, MCing, and acting. In fact, many well-known actors actually started out as idols. However, apart from successful idol-turned actors, there are also unlucky ones.

Jisoo (BLACKPINK)

Three out of four members of BLACKPINK have garnered massive success with their solo debuts. As for Jisoo, instead of releasing a solo single or album, she will officially “go solo” as an actress with the female lead role in the upcoming drama Snowdrop, co-starring actor Jung Hae-in. Fans are looking forward to Jisoo’s appearance on the small screen next month.

However, Jisoo’s drama was under controversy even before its broadcast. The story of Snowdrop is set in 1987, a critical period in Korean history. The drama then faced demands to be taken off air over the concerns about the possible distortion of history in its plot. Jisoo also dealt with criticisms from netizens for not choosing the script carefully.

However, despite the controversy, Snowdrop has recently confirmed its broadcast in December. But Jisoo’s bad luck has yet to end. Earlier this week, BLACKPINK members had to cancel all their schedules after Lisa tested positive for the ongoing infectious virus. Jisoo is now in self-quarantine. This might affect her upcoming promotions schedules for Snowdrop

However, when the filming for Double Patty wrapped up and was about to be released, Irene’s bad luck came. Red Velvet’s leader was involved in a controversy over her attitude. She then posted a hand-written apology and suspended her activities to reflect on her mistakes. This caused the release of the film to be postponed. But fortunately, when Double Patty came out, it received positive feedback from the audience.
