Starring in Chinese dramas, the female stars below did not receive positive reactions from the public.
They are all famous actresses in the Korean market, but when they went to act in Chinese historical dramas, Yoona, Kim Hee Sun and Chu Ja Hyun received many criticisms for both their appearance and acting skills.
1. Yoona
Yoona is classified as a national treasure of beauty on the Korean screen, but that is her weakness when she participates in the Chinese historical project of God Of War, Zhao Yun. Accordingly, Chinese netizens think that this beauty’s face is beautiful and modern, not suitable for the character Xiahou Qing Yi. Especially, in the injured scenes, her radiant aura was deemed inappropriate.
Yoona’s acting ability is also a point of contention. Many people believe that this female star’s talent is insufficient to play a challenging role like Qing Yi. Besides, acting with beautiful supporting actresses makes Yoona’s appearance completely overshadowed.
2. Kim Hee Sun
In 2005, Kim Hee Sun collaborated with Jackie Chan in the big-budget drama Mythology. The couple also performed the drama’s theme song. However, her poor acting skills made Kim Hee Sun receive many criticisms at the time of the film’s release. After Mythology, Kim Hee Sun withdrew from the Chinese film market for more than 5 years.
3. Chu Ja Hyun
Chu Ja Hyun actively worked in China since 2007. She owns a number of well-known works, including The Legend of the Banner Hero, The Temptation to Go Home, and others. In terms of appearance, Chu Ja Hyun is loved for her gentle beauty, which is quite suitable for the Chinese historical drama series.
Chu Ja Hyun, on the other hand, despite appearing in nearly a dozen historical dramas, did not leave a lasting impression due to her lackluster acting.
