Upcoming K-dramas with super quality cast: Business Proposal’s Kim Min Kyu and Seol In Ah to get leading roles

The second half of 2022 and early 2023 is looking bright with exciting K-dramas full of star actors and actresses. 

The first half of 2022 has been filled with quality K-dramas, but upcoming series won’t fall behind with their casts full of stars. 

Oasis (Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah)

Previously the second female lead of “Business Proposal”, actress Seol In Ah is already nailing leading roles. In this next KBS drama, which is set in a turbulent Korea from the 1980s to the 1990s, Seol In Ah will become the daughter of a theater owner, who fell in love with a poor guy, played by actor Jang Dong Yoon. 

This will be Seol In Ah and Jang Dong Yoon’s second collaboration, as both have previously starred in “School 2017”. Time sure has flown, and from minor roles, both are now leading actors. 

Murderous Toy (Choi Woo Sik, Son Seok Gu) 

When it comes to quality, it’s impossible not to mention Netflix’s upcoming series “Murderous Toy”, which will star super capable actors Choi Woo Sik and Son Seok Gu. The series will be a comedy thriller that follows an ordinary man who murders a serial killer on the loose, and is now being hunted down by the police. 

“Murderous Toy” will be both hilarious and eye-pleasing with stunning action sequences. After Choi Woo Sik’s “Our Beloved Summer” and Son Seok Gu’s “My Liberation Notes”, this Netflix series, which will start filming this September, is one to look forward to. 

The Great Priest Rembrary (Kim Min Kyu)

From the second male lead of “Business Proposal”, Kim Min Kyu is now confirmed as the protagonist of the upcoming K-drama adaptation of romance fantasy novel “The Great Priest Rembrary”. 

In the series, Kim Min Kyu will play the role of great priest Rembrary, who suddenly got transmigrated into the body of a Kpop idol after his fight with the demon king. As he doesn’t have any knowledge of being a proper idol, hilarity ensues, and there a romance also seems to be underway. 

One-Shot Scandal? (Jeon Do Yeon, Jung Kyung Ho) 

Jeon Do Yeon and Jung Kyung Ho will become co-stars in the 2023 tvN K-drama “One Shot Scandal?”. The rom-com series will focus on Korea’s top teacher and his relationship with the mother of one of his students. 

“One Shot Scandal?” will be Jeon Do Yeon’s first romcom after 17 years, since her 2005 work “Lovers in Prague”. Meanwhile, Jung Kyung Ho is an expert in the genre. The series, which will start filming this summer, is already receiving high anticipation. 

MonWedFriTuesThursSat (Park Min Young, Go Kyung Pyo)

After “Forecasting Love And Weather” released earlier this year, Park Min Young has soon accepted a new offer to star in another rom-com drama titled “MonWedFriTuesThursSat”, where she will be acting alongside Go Kyung Pyo. 

“MonWedFriTuesThursSat” is about singles who need a fake wife to attend family gatherings, classmate reunions, and group activities. Park Min Young is set to play Choi Sang Eun, whose special job is to act as the wife of single men everyday during the week, except for Sunday. Go Kyung Pyo will play a man who hires Choi Sang Eun to be his wife for 5 years on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Will a real romance spark between them? Find the answer in “MonWedFriTuesThursSat” that is expected premiere in the second half of this year.

100 Won Butler (Hyeri, Lee Jun Young)

Lee Jun Young and Hyeri have been confirmed to lead “100 Won Butler”. The drama is about a business called 100 Won Butler founded by a man who specializes in errands with a salary of 100 won and the head of a funeral home with the ability to talk to the dead. The two will team up and do unbelievable things together. “100 Won Butler” will start filming soon and is expected to air in the second half of 2022.

A Country Diary (Joy, Choo Young Woo)

Starring promising stars namely Red Velvet’s Joy and Choo Young Woo, “A Country Diary” is an upcoming web drama with the healing story of a male veterinarian who suddenly moves to the countryside, and meets a local female police officer. While adapting to his new life in the rural area, he recalls his childhood secrets and realizes that the policewoman used to be his friend. The two reunite by chance and a romance between them begins.
