A poster for Disney’s live-action version of “The Little Mermaid”, scheduled to show in 2023, has been released.

Disney’s first poster of “The Little Mermaid” live-action has been unveiled.

According to the British Daily Mail on the 13th (local time), Walt Disney Studios released the first poster of “The Little Mermaid” on its official Twitter account, about seven months prior to the movie’s release.

Halle Bailey’s complete transformation into Ariel

The poster showed 22 year-old Halle Bailey as a mermaid in the deep sea with a long tail and a purple clam bra, the symbol of Ariel.

The poster conveyed a mysterious atmosphere of the little mermaid sitting on the sea and looking at the surface of the water where lights came in.

Sharing the poster, Halle Bailey said, “Words can’t describe how immensely honored I feel to play the mermaid of my dreams, Ariel in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’”.

Harley Bailey “I feel pressured to play Ariel”

A look behind the scenes, Halle Bailey has been suffering from malicious comments since her casting news of Ariel’s role in 2019, which was largely due to the appearance of the original Ariel.

Criticisms reached its peak when the filming scene was released last year and when the trailer video was released last month.

An AI artist corrected Bailey’s appearance in the trailer as a white woman while some Internet users insisted that ““I need [the production crew] to shoot again with another actor right now”.

Learning of this reaction, Bailey confessed in an interview last month that she felt pressured after playing Ariel.

She said she has been a fan of ‘The Little Mermaid’ all her life and that she did not want to disappoint her fans while playing Ariel.

The actress added that she even devoted 110 percent of her efforts to the movie.

There is still a heated discussion among netizens over the movie “The Little Mermaid”.

Some Internet users are expressing negative reactions, saying, “It [The live-action] ruined the original ‘The Little Mermaid’” and “It’s not the Ariel I used to know”. Nonetheless, others are showing positive reviews, exciting anticipation such as “I like it because it’s fresh” and “All races can be Ariel”.

The movie “The Little Mermaid” is scheduled to be released on May 26, 2023.
