SM changed the venue for SHINee’s fan meeting after heavy protests

The venue for SHINee’s fan meeting event has been changed to Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium after fans’ protests.

On May 4th, SM Entertainment announced through the fan communication platform Kwangya Club, “The SHINee 15th Anniversary Fan Meeting will be held at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium with two performances on May 27th and 28th. We ask for a lot of interest from the fans.”

According to the announcement, the SHINee 15th Anniversary Solo Fan Meeting, “Everyday is SHINeeDAY: Piece of SHINE”, will be held at 6 PM (KST) on the 27th and 4 PM on the 28th. The performance on the second day, May 28th, will be live-streamed via Beyond Live, while the ticket price for all seats is 99,000 KRW (around 75 USD).

Initially, SM Entertainment had rented Hall 7 of KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Ilsan for the SHINee fan meeting. Hall 7 of KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 consists solely of seats without any steps, which could severely limit the view from most seats. This led to criticism from SHINee’s fandom, SHINee World (also known as Shawol), who accused SM Entertainment of carelessness in planning the event and in handling the venue rental.

In response, on May 2nd, SM Entertainment announced via Kwangya Club, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the fans ahead of the 15th anniversary of SHINee and SHINee World. We are looking for a new venue.”

Meanwhile, this fan meeting will be the first time in approximately 4 years and 8 months that SHINee members Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin will meet with fans in person since their fan meeting in September 2018.

In addition, SHINee is preparing for a full comeback to celebrate their 15th debut anniversary on May 25th. It is known that they are in the final stages of preparing a new album.
