“Queen of Tears” Kwak Dong-yeon “My personal insight has expanded”

Actor Kwak Dong-yeon has gained both personal growth and proven his acting spectrum. In his 13th year since debut, he is shining brightly by achieving two things at once

tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo) depicts the dizzying crisis and miraculous rekindling of love between Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, and their three years of marriage

Kwak Dong-yeon played the role of Hong Hae-in’s younger brother Hong Soo-cheol, who only loves his wife Cheon Da-hye (played by Lee Joo-bin) and son Geon-woo.

The drama received great love, recording the highest viewership rating of 24.8% and setting a new record for tvN dramas. It was praised for marking a new era in tvN drama history, surpassing the highest-rated tvN drama “Crash Landing on You”.

Kwak Dong-yeon expressed his gratitude to the viewers who showed warm interest, saying, “I knew it would do well, but I didn’t expect it to turn out this well.” He then thanked the staff and fellow actors who worked hard together to achieve this success.

I felt the tremendous support from the senior actors while filming. They were always there solidly, showing amazing acting skills every time. Just like they touched our hearts on set, I think they also stimulated viewers’ hearts.”

‘Queen of Tears’ is a work that has broadened my perspective. It’s been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many senior actors for such an extended period. Being able to indirectly feel and learn from the experience and wisdom that the senior actors possess has greatly enriched me. It feels like my personal insight has also expanded.”

Already in his 12th year since debut, Kwak Dong-yeon has found new momentum after “Queen of Tears”. He raised expectations for the future by saying, “I’m diligently considering my next project. I’m pondering carefully for the best choice.”
