Profile of Stray Kids’ Han – Key Member who Cements the Group’s Colors (2024 updated)

As a major producer for Stray Kids, it is no exaggeration to say that Han plays an important role in cementing the boy group’s unique color.

Who is Han? 

Han, whose full name is Han Jisung, was born on September 14, 2000. He is a member of famous K-pop boy group Stray Kids, and serves as the rapper and producer of the group.

Han’s Basic Information

Han was born in South Korea, but moved to Malaysia at the age of 9 and received home-schooling. While in Malaysia, he used the English name “Peter”. 

He came back to South Korea at 16 years old, and due to his dream to become a singer, struck a deal with his parents that he will get into an agency within a year. He ended up joining JYP a few days after passing his Korean GED. 

In late 2016, Han assumed the stage name J.One and formed the hip-hop crew 3RACHA with trainees Bang Chan (CB97) and Seo Changbin (“SPEARB”).

Han’s Career 

In 2017, Han was officially revealed for his participation in the survival show “Stray Kids”. At the time, his roles included rapping, vocalist, and producing.

In 2018, Han assumed his current stage name as he officially debuted as a rapper and producer of Stray Kids. 

He has since released self-composed songs “close” as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series, “I GOT IT”, “Alien”, “Wish You Back”, “HaPpY”, “Miserable (You & Me)” and “VOLCANO” as part of the SKZ-RECORD series, as well as the original solo song “Connected” in the album “SKZ-REPLAY”.

Due to his role as a producer, Han was named as a regular member of KOMCA – the Korean Music Copyright Association.

Additional facts about Han 

Han has one older brother and can speak English thanks to his time spent in Malaysia. He is known to have trypophobia (a fear of clusters of small holes), and once said that he would be producer if he wasn’t a member of Stray Kids. 

Controversy

Back in 2021, it was discovered that at around 13 years old, Han released a rap song including the n-word, a racist phrase against Southeast Asians, and even discriminating phrases against the mentally handicapped and plus-sized people. 

In the end, Han published a handwritten letter apologizing for his past actions. He owned up to his mistake by saying it was completely his fault, adding that he was immature and ended up hurting people for not thinking enough.
