Storm is a superhero from Marvel Comics’ X-Men series. She is the former queen of Wakanda and the ex-wife of T’Challa, also known as Black Panther. On the screen, Storm was previously played by Halle Berry in the X-Men universe.

In Korea, Halle Bailey’s remarks have gained negative responses from some netizens.

Netizens left comments on a Korean online community:

  • Perhaps she is the ideal talent that Marvel currently looks for. Excessive self-consciousness and political correctness…
  • She might do well if cast as a villain
  • Actually some kind of Marvel hero might have suited her more than The Little Mermaid…
  • Isn’t it too soon for the next villain after Thanos?
  • Somehow, thinking about her actually joining Marvel gives me the chills

Meanwhile, Halle Bailey has been selected as the lead actress in the movie “The Color Purple,” directed by renowned director Steven Spielberg. The movie is currently in production and nearing release.
