“The highest rating among works released at Cannes…” Tang Wei and Park Hae-il’s “Decision to Leave” reviews
“Decision to Leave”, which was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, has been receiving praise from all over the world since it was first released through world premiere.
Director Park Chan-wook’s movie “Decision to Leave” was unveiled at the Cannes World Premiere site on May 23rd (local time).
“Decision to Leave” tells the story of Hae-jun (Park Hae-il), a detective who is investigating a case of unnatural death in the mountain, meeting Seo-rae (Tang Wei), the wife of the deceased, and feeling suspicious and interested at the same time.
“Decision to Leave”, which received enthusiastic cheers and a standing ovation of 8 minutes as soon as it was released, is continuing to be lavishly praised by leading foreign media outlets.
“Decision to Leave” is also recording 100% freshness on the representative film criticism site Rotten Tomatoes.
Hollywood Reporter, a powerful media outlet, strongly recommended it, “As he showed in ‘The Handmaiden’, Park Chan-wook has reached a point in his career. The two leads have smoldering chemistry.”

Besides, the film’s editing, mise-en-scène and music are also being praised.

Hollywood Reporter praised art director Ryu Sung-hee. The media outlet showed admiration, “An eye-catching space completed by the dramatic work was born.”
There was also constant praise for director Park Chan-wook’s directing, which transformed the typical detective story into a new one.
According to the movie media outlet Screen Daily, “Decision to Leave” has received the highest rating of 3.2 among works released at Cannes so far.
Director James Grey’s film “Armageddon Time” is behind “Decision to Leave” with 2.8 points. “Decision to Leave” is a work starring Anne Hathaway, Anthony Hopkins and Jeremy Strong.
It is too early to predict because “Broker” and “Tori and Lokita” have not been released yet, but attention is focused on whether director Park Chan-wook will win the Palme d’Or as there are many positive reviews.
Meanwhile, “Decision to Leave” is scheduled to be released on June 29th.
