Taeyang “I observed BLACKPINK Lisa’s audition and thought that she would succeed”
Singer Taeyang recalled observing the audition of BLACKPINK Lisa, who featured on his new song.
BIGBANG Taeyang, who released his new solo mini album “Down to Earth”, appeared as a guest on the April 27th broadcast of SBS Power FM’s “Cultwo Show”.
When the surprising success of the title song “Shoong! (feat. LISA of BLACKPINK)” was mentioned, Taeyang humbly said, “Thankfully, I achieved good results by collaborating with Lisa. Thank you for helping me.“
Taeyang then revealed his special relationship with Lisa. When Lisa auditioned for YG, Taeyang was there.
Taeyang recalled, “I didn’t intend to be there. When I was working in the studio, I heard that someone from Thailand came to audition. After finishing working, I went down and observed the audition. I don’t remember exactly, but she was an elementary or middle school student back then. She came from Thailand alone, so I felt a little bitter. I remember the song she sang. ‘Baby’ by Justin Bieber. She sang beautifully. I thought that she would succeed.“
Taeyang added that Lisa is aware of this fact. When the DJ said that it would have been meaningful for Lisa to collaborate with him, he shared his thoughts, “It’s a new feeling to see that she’s doing well worldwide.“
