Actor Lee Dong-gun opened up about the tragic incident of losing his younger brother unexpectedly, bringing attention to stories of stars expressing their longing after losing their siblings
On the Dec 3rd broadcast of SBS’s “My Little Old Boy”, Lee Dong-gun visited the cathedral where the enshrinement box of his younger brother, who left for heaven, was enshrined. He said, “It’s unimaginable to see you at 36. Your time stopped at the age of 20.“
Later, Lee Dong-gun’s mother recalled her painful memory, “The hardest time was when I put on makeup for my son (for the funeral).“
Lee Dong-gun confessed, “I didn’t even have time to feel sad. I collapsed for just 5 seconds and immediately thought of my parents.”
Many other stars have shared their grief and longing for their deceased siblings.
Actress Nam Bo-ra mentioned her departed brother in September last year, expressing the difficulty of discussing it after 7 years. She shared, “My brother didn’t come home that night (when the incident occurred). When we tracked the location of his phone (after we reported his disappearance), the atmosphere was so cold. I wanted to believe it wasn’t, but that feeling was right in the end.”
When asked “Is there anything you want to say to your brother?”, she replied “I really want to say I’m sorry. To be honest, I think it was really hard for him”, shedding tears.
Actress Ha Ji-won also bid farewell to her younger brother Jeon Tae-soo, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 34.
Suddenly faced with the news, Ha Ji-won canceled all her scheduled activities for the movie “Manhunt” and was with him during his final moments.
Ha Ji-won wrote on her SNS at the time, “My beautiful star. May the star be born in a world where it shines endlessly. May my beloved star be happier than anyone else in the world. May the star be loved by everyone in the world. I love you, my beautiful star, Tae-soo.”
Comedian Kim Min-kyung also revealed the difficulty of discussing her younger brother, who left this world unexpectedly.
Reading a book written by comedian Sung Hyun-joo, who lost her son, Kim Min-kyung confessed, “Honestly, it’s not easy for me to talk about my brother Byung-soo. Just hearing his name makes me tear up, and I feel overwhelmed with longing.”
DJ DOC’s Lee Ha-neul also shared his emotions after the death of his brother Lee Hyun-bae.
Lee Ha-neul conveyed his enduring grief, “He’s more than a brother, he’s my blood. I didn’t bring up my brother’s story for 2 years. It’s not that I don’t acknowledge it, but I don’t want to acknowledge it and deliberately avoid thinking about it.“
