In the video, CEO Lee Sung Soo said, “SM has launched the SM 3.0 growth strategy on February 3rd to prevent the company from being privatized by Lee Soo Man any longer, and to proceed with company management for all fans and shareholders and for our artists. Today, we would like to explain in detail how SM came to be in this situation.”

One of the scenes that caught the attention of fans was Lee Soo Man’s “tree-planting” and aespa’s comeback performance.

According to CEO Lee Sung Soo, Lee Soo Man recently emphasized tree planting and insisted that a K-pop festival linked to tree planting should be held in various countries around the world. CEO Lee Sung Soo said, “Behind the message of planting trees, sustainability, or ESG, and the call for new market development and cultural exchange, there is Lee Soo Man’a desire for real estate business rights. The casino is also connected.”

CEO Lee Sung Soo said, “The release of aespa’s new album was scheduled for around February 20, 2023. The first concert after debut was scheduled to be held on February 25 and 26 of the same month in line with the new album release schedule. The real reason why the comeback was delayed was Lee Soo Man’s lyrics about planting trees, in other words, his strange greed, stubbornness, and producing that came out of it.”

He said, “Since last year, Lee Soo Man has continuously advocated for K-POP festivals with ‘tree planting’ at the forefront, and has suddenly emphasized sustainability, saying that he is carrying out tree planting campaigns in various countries. He ordered aespa to sing songs with lyrics that projected this tree planting that didn’t fit at all.”

He continued, “Some of the lyrics contain words such as sustainability, co-prosperity, and greenism. In fact, words about planting trees directly appeared in the lyrics in the early stages, which made the members of aespa upset. In response to Lee Soo Man’s unreasonable instructions, all department employees were given a mission to connect all of the existing worldview, team color, and lyrics that didn’t match at all. The co-CEOs decided that the release of such songs should be canceled for aespa’s sake. That’s why aespa’s comeback was pushed back.”

CEO Lee Sung Soo added, “aespa members, all our production departments, and the A&R team are preparing new songs and contents with more sincerity, and now we are planning to make a new comeback for aespa soon.”
