Retired from show-biz, Bae Yong Joon earns 20 billion won from start-up investments

Actor Bae Yong Joon, who retired from the entertainment industry, earned billions of won from investment in startups.

On the November 10th broadcast of KBS2’s “Entertainment company live”, the topic of diversifying celebrities’ earnings was brought up, and stars who made profits from corporate investments were mentioned.

Among them, actor Bae Yong Joon, who became a household name with the megahit K-drama “Winter Sonata”, was introduced as an original startup investor. After appearing in the drama “Dream High” in 2011, Bae Yong Joon temporarily suspended his acting career and has since been active in his investment activities.

In particular, Bae Yong Joon has been diversifying investments in startups of various fields such as home cleaning, cosmetics, coffee, and cryptocurrency.

Bae Yong Joon’s investment company, which has recently attracted attention, was estimated to boast a corporate value of 200 billion won last year, ahead of the KOSDAQ equivalent. Therefore, if Bae Yong Joon sells his stake in the future, he is expected to make 20 billion won in profit. 

Regarding these figures, a financial expert explained, “It is confirmed by the investment of Bae Sung Woong, who was the representative of an affiliated company, through an acquaintance relationship. This is a case where he participated in the investment by allocating stocks in the form of participating in equity investment. Bae Yong Joon’s stake was publicly announced to be 10.8%, but after he increased it to 10.89%, stock prices have risen.”
