“Propofol suspicion” Yoo Ah In, “The secret to crazy acting is drug”…Was his past remark real?

While actor Yoo Ah In was recently investigated by police for habitual use of propofol, the joke he said in the past that “the secret to crazy acting is ‘drug'” is being re-examined.

Yoo Ah In made this remark at the press conference for the movie “Veteran” held at CGV Wangsimni in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul in July 2015.

In “Veteran”, Yoo Ah In played “Jo Tae Oh”, the sadistic third-generation heir to powerful conglomerate Sinjin Group. He worked together with Hwang Jung Min, Yoo Hae Jin and Oh Dal Su.

First of all, Yoo Ah In talked about his acting, “I was really nervous throughout the showing. I still feel kind of dizzy.”

Hwang Jung Min, who was at the scene at that time, joked, “Dizzy? What did you eat earlier?” Yoo Ah In replied, “Argh, I can’t speak now.” On the other hand, Yoo Ah In laughingly said, “I think the secret to crazy acting is drug.”

Yoo Ah In then confessed, “I tried not to be too mad or intense because that would be too typical. But I think my acting is still over the top, so I do a lot of reflection.”

This remark is drawing attention again among netizens as Yoo Ah In was investigated for violating the Narcotics Control Act on Feb 6th.

Netizens commented, “Yoo Ah In was Jo Tae Oh himself in ‘Veteran'”, “His eyes in ‘Veteran’ were weird. I thought it was acting, but was it because of drug?“…

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In is known to have been habitually using propofol while visiting multiple hospitals in Seocho-gu, Gangnam since 2021.

In order to confirm whether propofol was habitually administered, Yoo Ah In’s body hair was requested for evaluation by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, and a ban from leaving the country was also imposed.

Regarding this, Yoo Ah In’s agency UAA said, “We are actively cooperating with all investigations related to this. We will actively explain the problematic parts. We apologize for causing concern.”
