NewJeans’ “Cookie” is the only Kpop song in New York Times’ “Best Songs of 2022”  

The debut song “Cookie” of girl group NewJeans was chosen as one of the best songs of 2022 by New York Times. 

On December 9th, American media outlet New York Times announced their picks for “Best Song of 2022”, which are selected by 3 pop music critics. 

In particular, a total of 72 songs were compiled. Here, NewJeans’ “Cookie” made an appearance at 11 on Jon Caramanica’s Top 22, and is the only Kpop release on the list.

The critic described “Cookie” as “the best song” from NewJeans’ debut EP with “no maximalism, no theater”. He also pointed out that the song is “an updated take on the club-oriented R&B of a couple of decades ago, finished off with a tasteful Jersey club breakdown.”

Meanwhile, NewJeans is scheduled to make a comeback with the new single album “OMG” in January next year.
