Lee Jin Ri revealed her thoughts on acting with Park Yoo Chun in his return work “On The Edge”
Actress Lee Jin Ri (33 years old) expressed her feelings about appearing in Park Yoo Chun’s comeback film “On The Edge”.
MyDaily conducted an interview with Lee Jin Ri at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of November 22nd. She plays Park Yoo Chun’s partner Hong Dan in the new movie “On The Edge”.
“On The Edge” is a hard-boiled movie that tells about Tae Hong (Park Yoo Chun), a man who lost everything in an instant, and Hong Dan (Lee Jin Ri), a woman who has nothing to lose from the start, facing each other’s lives at the end of the abyss. The drama drew keen attention even before its production stage as the comeback work of Park Yoo Chun, who was embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal. Due to Park Yoo Chun’s private life controversy, the film could not be released in theaters and went straight to IPTV service.
Lee Jin Ri made her debut in a musical in 2014 and later made her name known to the public by starring in various movies and dramas.
Regarding her casting, Lee Jin Ri said, “‘On The Edge’ was filmed in January 2020. After watching my acting video, the director was interested in me, so I went to the audition. When he asked me about the kind of role I wanted to play, I chose Hong Dan.”
When asked if she felt pressured due to the public’s interest in the movie as “Park Yoo Chun’s return work”, Lee Jin Ri calmly said, “I didn’t feel burdened at all. Although responses may not be positive, attention can be a good chance for ‘On The Edge’, which is a small independent movie. Above all, I wanted to do well as Hong Dan. I was actually worried that my acting would be a nuisance since I’m still a rookie. I hope everyone enjoys it with an open mind.”
She continued, “I met Park Yoo Chun without prejudice. I only had memories of feeling thankful and happy just like when I worked with other seniors. There were some unpleasant issues related to him, but he is still an experienced star-class senior who acted in many dramas. Rather, I was grateful that he didn’t feel uncomfortable with a rookie like me. He helped me a lot. I learned many things from watching him act and respected him as a senior.”
Lee Jin Ri also showed off her extraordinary passion for acting. The actress said, “I’ve dreamed of becoming an actor since I was in middle school. My father actually opposed my decision to enter the Department of Musicals, so I dropped out and studied Computers as my parents wanted. Nevertheless, I wanted to act so badly, so I eventually moved to Gachon’s University and learned acting. After watching my performance, my father decided to support my dream.”
Lee Jin Ri then talked about her special relationship with ‘National actor’ Lee Soon Jae, who was a professor at Gachon University.
Lastly, the actress proudly said, “I’m still trying new things and I won’t stop taking challenges.”
