Han So-hee explains educational fraud rumors “The story was edited and misrepresented on entertainment show”

Actress Han So-hee clarified suspicions related to her acceptance into a university in France

Recently, Han So-hee shared through her Instagram the response she gave to a netizen regarding her studying abroad in France.

Han So-hee stated, “As you may know, systems involving thinking and transitions were not suitable for me. From then on, I gave up on domestic universities and focused on building my portfolio. At first, I dreamed of Central Saint Martins and Parsons, but after hearing that it costs hundreds of millions of won each year, I chose Beaux-Arts.”

She explained, “Since I wasn’t attending a domestic university, there was no way I could get a loan. I needed 20~30 million won in my bank account. The housing and living expenses were ridiculously insufficient. Starting over at the age of twenty, I had to pour all my earnings from part-time jobs into the study abroad agency, which was like pouring water into a bottomless pit, but the story was edited and misrepresented on the entertainment show.”

Earlier, in January, Han So-hee appeared on the YouTube channel “Channel 15ya” and revealed why her educational background was a high school graduation.

At the time, Han So-hee said, “I got into school in France. I must have 60 million won in my account to get a visa. But I didn’t have 60 million won at the time.”

Han So-hee confessed, “So I got a part-time job. I got 1.8 million won for working 12 hours a day in a bar. But if I work 2 hours as a model, I could make 3 million won. I got 20 million won for one commercial. That’s a lot of money. ‘Okay. This is it.’ ‘This is the way.’ ‘This is it. I’ll do 3 more, make 60 million won and go to school.’ And that’s how I got this far.

Back then, netizens suspected that Han So-hee lied about getting accepted to a school in France. In fact, if you study abroad at a regular national university, you need to have an admission certificate from a Korean university. However, if it’s a national arts university, you only need a high school diploma. In addition, the actress claimed that she couldn’t prove that she had 60 million won in her bank account based on the announcement from the Embassy of France in Korea.

As suspicions surrounding her academics continued, Han So-hee eventually made a clear explanation. Despite that, some netizens still criticized her, saying “I don’t understand what she’s talking about. I’m not satisfied with this answer”. In the meantime, others defended the actress, saying “Why does Han So-hee have to explain this? She didn’t harm anyone”, resulting in more heated debates online.
