(G)I-DLE Soyeon “The company objected to the word ‘nude’ because it’s sensational… I wanted to do it more”
Soyeon shared a story behind the new song “Nxde”.
In episode 356 of JTBC’s entertainment show “Knowing Bros”, which aired on Oct 29th, (G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) appeared as transfer students.
On this day, Soyeon revealed a story behind the title song “Nxde” of (G)I-DLE’s fifth mini-album. She confessed, “There was strong opposition from our company because the word ‘nude’ is sensational.”
Soyeon recalled, “When I heard that, I thought the song had to be released.” She went on to say, “If you tell me not to do it, I want to do it more. The reason I wanted to do it more is that I didn’t think it was erotic when saying ‘nude’. We were born nude. When I wrote the song thinking that ‘nude’ meant my true self, I was told it was an erotic word, so I wanted to show that it wasn’t erotic.” Yuqi added, “It’s prejudice.”
Everyone was impressed by the fact that Soyeon even made PPT to persuade the company.
