Following the title “The Most Beautiful Face of 2021,” BLACKPINK Lisa set another record on the U.S. radio chart
BLACKPINK Lisa set a new record for K-Pop female artists on the radio system which is the root of the U.S. pop music market.
A track from Lisa’s solo album, “Money,” ranked 35th on the Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart released on Jan 3rd.
The song has been on the rise since it first entered the top 40 of the aforementioned chart more than 3 months after its release in September last year. Especially, this track has been on the chart for 3 weeks and is a first among K-Pop female artists.
The Pop Airplay Chart calculated the ranks based on 160 major radio stations in the U.S. by counting the number of each song’s weekly broadcast. As the radio targets local media in a traditional way, entry barriers are still high for non-English speaking singers.
Forbes, an economic magazine from the States also noted this, highlighting Lisa’s competitiveness, saying she is “the most successful K-Pop female solo artist ever.”
In fact, Lisa’s “Money” ranked 1st among songs that listeners of iHeartRadio’s “Most Requested Live” would like to listen to the most in 2021.
Lisa proved her popularity by dominating major global charts with her solo album “LALISA” released on Sep 10th. This album and its title track “LALISA” did not only ranked 84th on the Billboard Hot 100 in the first week of its release but also topped the iTunes Top Song Chart in 72 countries and the Top 100 Global Youtube Songs for 2 consecutive weeks.
