BLACKPINK’s 1st music show stage in 2 years with “Pink Venom”: Stunning ending fairy, losing 1st place to New Jeans
BLACKPINK created a buzz with their “Pink Venom” performance on Inkigayo ahead of appearance at the 2022 VMAs.
On August 28, after a 2-year hiatus from group promotions, BLACKPINK had their first music show stage on SBS’s Inkigayo as a whole with the pre-release comeback single “Pink Venom”. BLACKPINK was also nominated for 1st place alongside the rookie girl group New Jeans.
Earlier on August 25, BLACKPINK departed for the US to prepare for their appearance at the 2022 VMAs. Therefore, they could not attend the live broadcast of Inkigayo today. BLACKPINK’s performance was pre-recorded a week ago.
Speaking to the media, a representative from YG said, “BLACKPINK’s schedule does not have any suitable time for them to appear on music shows, but the members really wanted to perform. They said: ‘It’s okay for us to sleep a little bit. We want to promote on music show because our fans have been waiting for a long time.’ And so they recorded for Inkigayo from early morning, the same time as filming for the MV for their upcoming title track.”
Despite being busy with filming the MV for the title track of the full album released next month, BLACKPINK still wanted to perform on a music show to meet domestic fans, who have been waiting for their comeback for a long time. Even when this means the members got less rest amid their packed schedules, they still prioritized the fans.
