On August 9th, Joy News 24 reported that the tvN drama “Arthdal Chronicles 2” concluded script reading with Lee Jun Ki, Shin Se Kyung, Jang Dong Gun, and Kim Ok Bin since the 6th.
“Arthdal Chronicles” is a drama that depicts the fateful story of heroes who write different legends in the ancient land of Arth, and its first season was broadcast in 18 episodes on tvN in 2019.
The drama was originally planned with the season system in mind, and immediately after the end of season 1, plans for a 2nd season were announced. According to the wishes of the production team and viewers, the production of season 2 in 2020 was confirmed, but the schedule was postponed due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, there was a change in the cast. Song Joong-ki (who played twins Eun Seom and Saya) and Kim Ji Won (who played Tanya) of season 1 decided not to appear in season 2. Accordingly, Lee Jun Ki and Shin Se Kyung will join season 2 in their places. Meanwhile, Jang Dong Gun (who played Tagon), and Kim Ok Bin (who played Al Ha), will continue to appear as normal.
“Arthdal Chronicles 2”, which recently finished casting and script reading, is scheduled to start filming in August.
Like Season 1, the script was written by Kim Young Hyeon and Park Sang Yeon, and director Kim Kwang Sik will head the production.
