AKMU realizes a shocking fact that their 9-year-old fandom has not had an official fandom name
The famous sibling duo in K-pop, AKMU, has not given their fandom an official name after 9 years of activity.
As a famous and long-standing duo in K-pop, AKMU, consisting the siblings Chan Hyuk and Su Hyun, has gained much attention for overwhelming talent and various achievements. However, during one of their livestreams to interact with fans, the duo realized something shocking. After 9 years of activity, AKMU has not had an official fandom name.
The closest AKMU’s fans get to a fandom name was the title “Aunts & Uncles” in 2017, during a livestream. However, no official news was announced since. Three years ago, Su Hyun shared the announcement plan for an official fandom name, but was postponed due to the pandemic. In the meantime, AKMU’s fans call each other by the name “HAF” – Hello AKMU Fan, to recognize one another in the larger K-pop community. Now that AKMU is reaching their ninth year of activity, fans hope they can have an official title to call one another and themselves.
After winning the second season of “K-pop Star” in 2013, sibling duo Chan Hyuk and Su Hyun started their music career under the name AKMU (Akdong Musician) managed by YG. The duo’s first music release, “Play”, gained much attention from the public. After one year of debut, AKMU had 4 songs enter the Circle Chart. Their highest-ranked position was the 9th place. In the following years, they received many prestigious music awards, one of which being the “Digital Bonsang” for three non-consecutive years at the “Golden Disk Awards.”
