Agency responds regarding Lee Jong Suk’s mention of “that person”, “It’s a person he was personally grateful to”
As Lee Jong Suk made headlines for mentioning a specific person in his speech at a recent awards ceremony, his agency released its position.
On December 31st. Lee Jong Suk’s agency HighZium Studio said to My Daily, “He (Lee Jong Suk) expressed his gratitude to a person he was personally grateful to”, adding “With consideration for that person, the actor couldn’t mention their direct information. It was a greeting to the person he appreciated.”
Lee Jong Suk won Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards held on the evening of December 30th. With “Big Mouth”, the actor achieved his second Daesang six years after his first one with the drama “W” in 2016.
Lee Jong Suk took the stage to receive his award and said, “I received Daesang for the first time six years ago when I was in my 20s. At that time, I didn’t know the meaning of this award well. I greeted you all with a comeback work after a long time in my 30s. Thank you for giving me so much love”.
The actor continued, “Before appearing in ‘Big Mouth’, I had many worries, fears, and distress after completing military service”. He added, “At that time, a person led me in a good direction. I really want to take this opportunity to convey what I want to tell that person. Thank you for always being so cool like that. I want to say that I’ve liked you for a very long time and I respect you a lot. Every time I look at that friend, I always think, ‘I should have worked harder, and been a better person’. I reflected a lot on my past days. I will try to improve myself in the future”, delivering his sincere heart to “that person”.
Shortly after the broadcast, discussions regarding “that person” mentioned by Lee Jong Suk were raised online, raising the public’s curiosity. However, as Lee Jong Suk did not reveal the specific identity of “that person” considering that they would suddenly receive attention, many fans are expressing concerns over indiscriminate speculations.
