After various controversies, KBS’s late-night show will continue with Jay Park as the new MC 

As there have been many controversies and unfavorable issues related to KBS talk show’s MCs, such as Yoo Hee Yeol’s plagiarism, Lee So Ra’s filming refusal, and Yoon Do Hyun’s external pressure, attention is focused on whether Jay Park will be able to captivate viewers.

KBS2’s “The Seasons – Jay Park’s Drive”, which will premiere on February 5th, airs every Sunday night when the end of a week and the beginning of another week exist at the same time. It’s a talk show about music and stories that will help you get rid of all worries. Introducing the new “annual project” method for KBS’s late-night music programs for the first time, four MCs will take turns and lead each season with their names on the title throughout 2023.

The MC for season 1 is Jay Park, an artist with 15 years of experience. Jay Park founded various entertainment companies, such as AOMG, H1GHR MUSIC, and MORE VISION, and was a producer on Mnet’s “Show Me The Money” and “High School Rapper” series. As a musician and an entertainment CEO, he definitely knows a lot about music. For the first time since his debut in 2008, Jay Park will become a solo MC on a terrestrial music program.

KBS’s late-night music program tradition has continued from “Noh Young Shim’s Little Concert”, “Lee Moon Sae’s Show”, “Lee So Ra’s Proposal”, “Yoon Do Hyun’s Love Letter”, and Lee Ha Na’s Peppermint”, and now “The Seasons”. In fact, Jay Park’s new music talk show does not simply mean continuing this tradition.

Through his personal channel, Jay Park said, “No one can fill the vacancy of Yoo Hee Yeol”, lowering himself and showing his humble side. He continued, “I will do my best to let many people listen to the music created by the singers’ hard work”, expressing his extraordinary determination.

Of course, the viewers still remember the bad impression from the suspensions of previous talk shows. “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” aired for 13 years but Yoo Hee Yeol had to end it suddenly in disgrace. “Lee So Ra’s Proposal” was also noisy at the time it was broadcasted. After various singers appeared on the show and lipsynced, Lee So Ra refused to film, making it difficult for the show to continue. In addition, Yoon Do Hyun sparked controversies after he was forced to drop out of the program after rumors of external pressure arose. 

This opportunity is either an honor or a burden for Jay Park. This is why viewers are having both expectations and concerns about the kind of night stories Jay Park, who has gained various experiences and music achievements as an idol group member and a solo singer, will share on “The Seasons”.
