Many Knets believe that this female idol is implicitly referring to Momoland, especially when more and more Korean idols and actors are accused of bullying
Recently, some Kpop idols get caught up in controversy related to bullying issues. Initially, there were bullying allegations related to school bullying, but then April’s case appeared and raised suspicions of internal bullying within Kpop groups. And most recently, many netizens were surprised when Yeonwoo, a former member of Momoland, posted a cryptic message on social networks amid this complicated situation.
On March 3rd, Yeonwoo posted a photo of an excerpt from a novel on her Instagram. The excerpt read, “I hated and resented so much. But after becoming the age at which I am no longer afraid of death, I realize nothing is more needed except to say ‘I love you’ to the person I love and to say ‘the weather’s gotten cold’ to the person I hate.”
The excerpt was from the novel ‘The Far Sea’ written by Gong Young Ji. ‘The Far Sea’ is a story about an individual who grows to forgive themselves after the years have passed while reminiscing back at their first love.
Yeonwoo’s post immediately attracted the attention of the public. The reason is that many things have not been clarified after the female idol left Momoland in November 2019. The announcement came suddenly when MLD Entertainment confirmed that both Yeonwoo and Taeha would no longer be members of Momoland.
At that time, in the announcement, the managing company explained: “While YEONWOO has had a deep affection for her MOMOLAND activities, she has decided that continuing together with her actress activities would be too much strain for both her team and herself so to leave the team and concentrate on her career as our actress.”
In fact, Yeonwoo was one of the most prominent members during her time as a member of Momoland. Not only possesses outstanding beauty, but also has an attractive aura on stage. Many of her fancams also received millions of views. Therefore, the sudden departure of the female idol made many people suspect that she was “kicked” out of Momoland by MLD.
Previously, Yeonwoo also posted many different hidden messages. It seems that the female idol wants to say that she never voluntarily left the group. In a long article published in July 2020 – when AOA’s bullying scandal broke out, Yeonwoo once wrote: “Everyone, how many of you are brave enough to give up your youth for a new start? I don’t have that boldness or will. Both in the past and now, I just endured, tolerated, and suppressed things, but it didn’t work out.
I didn’t betray everyone because I wanted to go into a different line of work. Do you know how painful it is to be misunderstood and criticized by the people you love? Please stop it now. You know I can’t explain things one at a time.
Why do people still hold onto words that don’t come from my mouth, thoughts that aren’t in my head, and actions that I don’t do? No matter what changed about me and how hard things were, I don’t want to hang in over there anymore. I don’t want to cry anymore. I just want to create a future and be happy with all of you whom I love. You’ve all done enough hard work.
Right now, I am doing a new job. I don’t have any other choices. I have to do this to continue with my dream. I feel like I have to do this to live. I have to do this to continue to be able to meet you all.”
On the Korean network forum, Yeonwoo’s hidden messages are being shared again. Many people claimed that Yeonwoo had no signs of wanting to leave Momoland before, but then suddenly MLD confirmed she left the group. A post on Pann raises the question: ‘Are Yeonwoo’s bullying rumors true? … A few days ago, her medical records from 3 years ago also surfaced, did she leave the group because she was bullied like Hyunjoo (April)? ‘
In addition, Knets discovered that there was a comment under April Hyunjoo’s brother’s post that accused the female idol of being bullied by the group members. This comment is as follows: “The next one is Momoland’s Yeonwoo. 1. It was weird how Yeonwoo suddenly stopped activities saying she had health issues. 2. She is the center of the group so why did she have to leave? 3. The agency’s official response said she left the group to pursue acting. 4. Even after leaving the group, she stayed in MLD. 5. Yeonwoo’s situation is so similar to Hyunjoo’s situation.”
Many Knets also agreed with this comment and said that there were too many ‘weird’ things about the leaving of Yeonwoo, Taeha, and the hiatus of Daisy. Many people still worry that the next group to have the controversy is Momoland.
